On March 30 1997 in Austin, an amplified funnel attached to a wheelchair that three performers were holding up was allowed to drag and erode on an amplified turntable of sandpaper.

The Grinding Gig (San Francisco, 1995)

In San Francisco on March 29 1995, four members of The Haters slowly pushed live microphones into power grinders, while a fifth processed the resulting sounds into a monumental racket.

Building Empty Holes (San Francisco, 1992)

On March 27, 1992, four members of The Haters each used a clici-clic to pop holes through numerous sheets of tinfoil & paper. For 20 minutes, the sound of the crushing was amplified into an ear-piercing blob of noise galore. Projected onto a large screen just behind the performers, a 1961 black & white film of assorted hooded wrestlers involved in various matches.

Counting Dirt (Austin, 1991)

In Austin, on March 9 1991, GX Jupitter-Larsen performed by counting, one by one, the number of soil particles in the dirt covered floor of a gallery elevator. During the 4 hours of this untitled live-insulation, a total of 30,142 soil particles were counted (later estimated to be 10% of the total amount there).
