Building Empty Holes (San Francisco, 1995)

On Feb 10 1995 in San Francisco, the amplified shrieking resonance of electric drills and feedback filled the venue as five performers drilled holes into a very large wooden pallet. The pallet was being held upright by the performers as they drilled into it again and again for 22 minutes. Sawdust and applause were all over the place.

Mind The Gap (San Francisco, 1996)

On Feb 7 1996 in San Francisco, GX Jupitter-Larsen & The Haters used amplified staple-guns to break and shatter a stack of LPs. The longer the stapling went on, the shorter the stack got. Staples and cracked bits of vinyl were spraying all about; hitting many in the audience. This was the first ever “Mind The Gap” performance.

Drunk On Decay (San Francisco, 1998)

On this day (jan 29) in 1998, in San Francisco, the very last live rendition of Drunk On Decay was performed. Most every time the piece was done, the amplified tin funnel was hung from something bigger than the time before. This time it was a truck on a hoist. The next time was supposed to be a house lifted off its foundation. It hasn't happen yet, but it still could.

The Grinding Gig (Denver, 1993)

On Jan 23 1993 in Denver, two members of The Haters, each with a live mic in hand, stood on either side of a duel-wheel bench-grinder mounted on a small table in the middle of a club stage. Sparks were flying as their microphones were slowly pushed into the grinding wheels. A third member electrically manipulated the motor sounds from the grinder into an oscillation of thick distortion.

Calibration Dice (2012)

At the BONE performance art fest (2011)

Dec 2 2011, in Bern Switzerland: While performing "Loud Luggage / Booming Baggage" Jessica King sat holding a small amplified suitcase on her head while GX Jupitter-Larsen pressed his larger amplified suitcase into hers. She was squashed downward, as GX leaned in. Noise, as if by a harsh hug.

Mingwave...

The mingwave is that nearly indiscernible pause between an idea and the language used to express that idea. The spark of an idea, and the words that would carry that idea forth do not spring out simultaneously. There is a lag, even if that idea never leaves the brain...

No Comment Art Show (Oct 13, 2011)

Oct 13 2011 New York, Adel Souto and Ian McGillivray sat up a noise installation by GX Jupitter-Larsen at the No Comment Art Show at 23 Wall Street. The exhibition was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement at nearby Liberty Plaza. The installation was a hour of sounds from Occupy LA recorded and mixed by GX: HERE + HERE
